Springtime in Tennessee

Earth Day is April 22 and the very first Earth Day was in 1970. So we celebrate 40 years. What are you doing this year to celebrate Earth Day? Want to talk with your children about Earth Day? Here are some resources:

At the library:
“Every Day is Earth Day: A Craft Book,” by Kathy Ross
“Just a Dream,” by Chris Van Allsburg
“What’s It Like Living Green?: Teaching Kids, by the Way They Live,” by Jill Ammon Vanderwood
“The Day the Earth was Silent,” by Michael McGuffee
“Girls Gone Green,” by Hirshfield
In honor of Earth Day, I share what my yard looks like this Spring.

White Dogwood tree out back

This cartoon came out in our local newspaper, The News Sentinel, in honor of our green Spring. It's by our editorial cartoonist, Daniel Proctor. (It's just a big patch of green.)

Joel----A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck! Plus clean sheets, clean house, peach cobbler, and the list goes on. :) And wait? You don't think I mow those lawns?
