Bean to Bar

For some reason the words "Bean to Bar" drew me in to read an article in the Spring issue of BYU Magazine. However, I was totally surprised to find it was about Art Pollard (BA '96), creator of Amano Artisan Chocolate. I learned that "amano" means both "by hand" and "they love." (Is that right Troy, my Italian language son?) The company has only been in business for three years, and yet I've seen their famous bars line the shelves of ..........hmmmm. I can't remember. Was it at an airport gift shop? I thought perhaps Fresh Market and ran there only to find every other kind except Amano. While reading their blog I learned that they were in San Francisco in March at the San Francisco Chocolate Salon.

So for love of chocolate, we'll have our first GIVE AWAY be chocolate---the "by hand" and "they love" kind, that is. The picture below shows an example of one of the two bars that will be given (sent) to the lucky winner. The first three people who comment using the word "chocolate" will have their name put in a hat for the drawing. One lucky winner gets not just one, but two magnificent bars---that is "bean to bar."

Other random thoughts on chocolate:

"Chocolate, it's not just for breakfast anymore."

Chocolate, it's not just for the first 3 commenters anymore.

Lori-- you totally cleaned up.
Mom-- yes, but they are written and accented differently:
"by hand" would be "a mano" and pronounced "a MAH-no"

while "they love" is "amano", pronounced "AH-mahno".

How do you say "they love chocolate by the hand of mom?"

what's the term for when two chocolate bars duel it out, one-on-one, just man to man, no mercy.

We've had a good laugh reading your comments. Our children are so clever and funny. :) If you read the wording of the give away, you'll recall it says: "The first three people who comment....." So the first three people are: Lori (queen of the game), Julie, and Brad. Those three names will be put in a hat and Dad will draw one name and announce the lucky winner later today. Stay tuned.

Sorry Lori and Julie, Brad won the drawing. It appears being the "third person" was the charm.
